Pilot - Load in Day

April 06, 2010

We arrived on-site at the Gaylord National Hotel today to begin the load-in of the set, audio, video and lighting. Below are some pictures of the set-up. There were a ton of pre-production CAD drawings and very specific measurements made to ensure that the lighting truss was going to fit in front of the chandeliers. We were working off of blue prints that the hotel provided of the ballroom. When we got there and began installation, it was discovered that the drawings were WRONG. The Chandeliers were not where they were supposed to be. It took about a half hour of on the site engineering to come up with a solution. As the truss was being raised into position, we had to attach ropes to both the truss and the chandelier and pull them apart from each other to make everything fit.  As you can see from some of the pictures, the three chandeliers, while magnificent looking, were constantly in the way of our production.

Thank goodness the hotel had plenty of hallways we could use for storage… 45 road cases take up a lot of space

Fun with Cinema Cake.

April 02, 2010

When our good friend, Dave Williams from Cinema Cake started planning his daughter’s Bat Mitzvah, one of his first calls was to Eventions to help him produce an amazing party. Dave assembled an all-star team of some of the area’s best event professionals including Melissa Brannon from Uncommon Events, Sarah DiCicco, Jelly Roll, and some craziness from Creative Juice Group.

For Danielle’s concept video Dave and his creative staff recreated the SNL video “I’m on a Boat” to “I’m on a Bus”. Dave’s staff rewrote the lyrics and music to fit the new concept. Next up was a new one for us… “can you fit a 52 foot bus into your warehouse?” Our answer was “of course… and I’m afraid to ask, but why? One cold day in January, at 8 AM the bus arrived at our facility and the transformation began to make it “cool”

Check out the video that was shown the night of the party. - Keep an eye out for a cameo from dave and his wife Sheryl as the bus drivers.

Also, take a look at the “Out Take” video that shows some of the “behind the scenes action”

For the actual party, We supplied a huge truss design with 12 intelligent lights, LED lights and diffusion fog. We also debuted our Chroma Blast LED dance floor and custom fabricated some floating lucite tables utilizing our Chroma Towers as bases. The great thing about our Chroma series of dance floor and Chroma Towers is that they all coordinate with the intelligent lighting used on the dance floor.

And here is the “sneak preview” of the party. Congratulations to Dave, Danielle and the entire Williams Family.

Pilot Week 3

April 01, 2010

Construction:

The set construction is well under way and is currently being painted. We can’t wait to see it finished and installed in the space. Everyone is looking forward to the Easter Holiday weekend since it is the last time we will have to breathe for a few weeks.

Check out the different pieces as they come together.

This was the “inspiration” for the TV surrounds

Behind The Scenes Pilot 2

March 04, 2010

Pilot Week 2
After a successful location survey and brainstorming meeting with the client, we got to work on planning the look of the set. Our set designer created a hand drawing showing the colors and look of the set pieces. The final size of the stage set will be 60’ wide and 20’ tall.

This was then imported into a 3D CAD rendering program to allow us to show the client exactly what the room will look like. Our audio and lighting designers also used the CAD drawings to select and place the proper equipment for outstanding results. On our bigger events, designing and planning the event on CAD (Computer Aided Design) allows us to visualize the event in detail before we set foot in the room to begin production.

The center part of the set will be a representation of the of “joke wall” that was a main feature of the original show.  Included in the set are hidden doors that will open so that people can stick their heads out and tell jokes.

We also designed the stage to be handicap accessible to allow the CEO to be onstage and involved with the production.

We followed the client’s request to have the video screens appear like TV consoles from the 70’s.

Grand Opening of Channel 6 ABC’s New Studio

February 27, 2010

In September of 2009 Eventions Productions was chosen to supply the lighting and audio for the opening celebration. A top of the line team compromised of Uniquely Philadelphia, STARR Catering, Table Art, Eventquip and the staff at Channel 6 ABC worked together for this amazing event which had in attendance local and national network personalities, Disney executives, celebrities and local government officials.  A massive old tree was the focal point of the patio on the side of the building and therefore became the focal point of the event. Eventquip constructed a tent built around the tree with it going right through the top of the tent! Michael Sardanopoli designed an awesome glass stage around the tree to allow guests to see the full magnificence of it.

We provided a hidden JBL line array system to provide crystal clear audio for our Lucite podium and the 60 person gospel choir and accompanying 10 piece band.  Our lighting designers also provided some dramatic tent and stage lighting to bring the tent to life. It was a challenge to balance the needs of HD television lighting (BRIGHT) with proper atmospheric event lighting. Also installed were over 60 light fixtures to highlight the surrounding landscape and to allow for the guest’s safe departure to their cars at the end of the night.

Things don’t always go as planned!!!

About 15 minutes before the event started, the company that installed the fabric liner in the tent (company not mentioned above) had a cable fail, causing ½ of the fabric ceiling to fall to the ground. This is not their fault, their work was proper – sometimes things just break. Never scared to get their hands dirty, Ed Knight, owner of Eventquip grabbed his “Oh Sh** Kit” which is kept in every one of their trucks. The team of Ed, with Eventions President, Brian Toner, sprung into action and with MacGyver-like skills, a few ladders and the correct tools, reinstalled the liner in about 7 minutes allowing the event to continue.
