A Race Car-Themed Bar Mitzvah at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia
May 17, 2012
Winner of the 2011 Museum of the Year Award, the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia is one of the coolest event spaces in the city. Certainly, one of the largest! It can comfortably accommodate 1,000-2,000 guests depending on the style of the party. But one of the most incredible aspects of the museum is, of course, the cars. For over 50 years, museum founder, renown neurosurgeon Dr. Frederick Simeone, collected over 60 different rare or significantly built race cars ever designed. Each race car is displayed in a setting that dates back to the racing era in which it was king. With such a spectacular backdrop, you can imagine a child’s delight (a child of any age) in hosting their event at the Simeone.

This past weekend, we provided lighting and production for a bar mitzvah that embraced the racing vibe right down to the black and white “flag” tablecloths and racing red chairs. All the different settings and backdrops, many of which look like street scenes and urban landscapes, are dramatic when we light them up! Truly, a very cool spot for a party.
